illuminate health
a movement + wellness collaboration
OUR MISSION
At illuminate, our goal is to work with each patient to determine a movement or behavior strategy that aligns with their goals while deepening their understanding of their pain experience.
WHO WE ARE
You cannot be truly helped until you’ve been fully heard. The path forward begins with sharing your story. From the start, we collaborate to identify all the factors that might be contributing to your pain or injury experience. Through shared decision-making, we determine which aspects we can most effectively address and develop a plan that empowers you to pursue your goals on your own terms, whatever they may be.
OUR TENETS
Patient-Centered
Everyone experiences pain and injury in their own unique way, with different concerns, circumstances, and challenges. Recognizing this, we avoid a one-size-fits-all approach to patient care. Each case starts as a blank slate, allowing us to tailor our care to what works best for you, which we can only determine by truly understanding your individual story.
Shared Decision-Making
In our approach, there are always two experts in the room. You are the expert on your own experience and how your pain or injury has affected your life. Your involvement in the decision-making process is crucial. This isn’t just about a doctor giving instructions; it’s a collaboration where we combine our knowledge to find the best path forward.
Goal-Oriented
Without clear intentions, any effort can feel aimless. We work closely with our clients to set realistic goals that are meaningful to them. Once these goals are established, we identify potential barriers and plan accordingly, ensuring a focused and effective path to recovery.
“The greatest thing you can do for someone is to build their self-efficacy and empower them to take care of their health”
- Peter O’Sullivan
“The overwhelming message coming from respected researchers, clinicians and writers on the way forward with ‘pain’ is for patient empowerment via education and active rehabilitation of function rather than over-reliance on passive therapies”
- Louis Gifford
